


Prather, the father of the Prathers in the township, came here from North Carolina in 1801. Captain Norris then took two children to a place of safety, went to Charlestown, gave the alarm, and then assisted in burying the bodies of those who were massacred. While Franklin Township, along with Lafayette Township are the only two townships in the county without an incorporated community, Franklin Township is by far the least populous township. As of the 2010 census, its population was 1,499 and it contained 621 housing units. Franklin Township is one of five townships in Floyd County, Indiana.
